Human beings are born with lots of potential; the only need is to recognize talent within. In other words we got to understand the fact as to what’s that which we can do the best in our life whereby there is deeper interest and desire to align our mind, heart and hard work to achieve it. Becoming actor is also one of these aspirations for human beings. However, Shakespeare also said that this world is a stage and all of us are actors.
Today, I start talking about an actor; let’s start with theatre because theatre leaves huge influence in actor’s lives. So the question is whether an actor can become good actor without getting theatre training or not? Hence, before answering this question it’s far more important to know what theatre is. However, the answer to this question cannot be precise or short. Though, let’s discuss and develop basic understanding about it. Theatre is a medium whereby an actor performs in front of audience. They are given dialogues, appropriate set and music to support storyline. Music composers sit on the sets; although in recent times some director’s pre- record their music too. Therefore, as play begins all the actors appear into their specific costumes and perform their part based on storyline. It’s worth mentioning here is that everyone is expected to deliver most of their emotions and perform their character in which he or she relates closely with the character.
In actor’s lives theatre has got significant amount of influence, actors needed to deliver dialogues without any microphone. Following are several tasks involved that sharpen actor’s skill and help them becoming good and accomplished actors.
- Practising voice exercise in order to enhance and strengthen dialogue delivery.
- Try and enhance diction while delivering dialogues
- Working on clarity of dialogues
- Working on body language
- Working on physical exercise in order o keep fit
- Remembering all the dialogues before get on to the stage.
The great thing about theatre is that when it’s live and actors are in front of the audience anything can, and does happen such as dropped lines, missed entrances or certain improvisations which comes out promptly and makes you a creative actor. Theatre also teaches actors as to how to focus, think quickly and make a variety of impressions to let your audience engage with you more closely.
The whole purpose of all this is to put your point across to audience or making audience involved with you as you go along with the storyline. Theatre gives an opportunity for all the actors to get the feedback as they finish their play so that they can work on their weaknesses if there are any?
Whole process starts by working on storyline and rehearsing for a long time. Throughout this process an actor works as family member that establish their bonding and facilitates mutual repo and respect amongst all the team mates.
Additionally, theatre helps you control your emotions whereas real acting does not let you do that. Running across the stage and swinging your hands up and down along with screaming with your thoughts can take audiences to different world. In addition, Theatre can help you let go your tension as many of the exercises that actors learn can be enjoyable and even makes laugh, therefore it is the medium which allow you to discover yourself.
